PERIODONTAL ANTIBIOTIC THERAPY

A great new breakthrough in our hygiene department is the introduction of Arestin. For our patients who have periodontal disease, this localized antibiotic actually promotes healing.

Periodontal disease is a chronic infection of the gums and bones that support your teeth. We treat periodontal disease with a procedure called scaling and root planing, which removes the bacteria that contribute to periodontal disease.

In the past year, we have also used Arestin in conjunction with scaling and root planing, and we have always had good results. This antibiotic actually gets placed under the gum in deep pockets, and stays there fighting infection. In certain cases, the placement of Arestin every four months can even save a tooth with not much bone structure supporting it.

Periodontal disease is a disease that affects fifty million people. We are pro-active in treating periodontal disease, and we have a wonderful periodontal therapy program for our patients.
